Fistral
British surfing's most famous beach, in Newquay, home of major contests.
Fistral is the flagship beach of Newquay, the UK's surf capital. It picks up almost any swell and has several sections (North Fistral, South Fistral and Little Fistral) that work at different tides.
For decades it has hosted the country's main contests, including the Boardmasters festival. There are always people in the water.
