Surf spots in Greece

Greece has thousands of kilometres of coastline and two very different surf seasons. In the Aegean, the north-facing island beaches like Tinos or Ikaria get windswell in summer from the meltemi, the northerly wind that blows hard in July and August. In winter, the Ionian coast, Corfu, Lefkada, the Peloponnese and western Crete get westerly swells.

Greece's surf community is young and growing every year, with schools in Athens, the Cyclades and Crete. The water is 15–16 °C in winter and above 24 °C in summer, when boardshorts or a neoprene top are enough.
