La Manga del Mar Menor
The open beach on the sand spit that closes off the Mar Menor, Murcia's surf hub.
La Manga is a strip of sand over 20 km long between the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor lagoon. Its outer side, open to the east, gets the easterly storms and is the go-to spot for surfers from Murcia.
The banks shift along the beach; in winter the best days come when the wind swings westerly after a storm.
