Valdoviño
One of the most consistent beaches in Spain and, for decades, the home of the Pantín Classic.
Galicia is the north-western corner of the Iberian Peninsula and takes Atlantic swells head-on: it is the most consistent region in Spain. Between Ferrol and Vigo there are hundreds of beaches, from wild stretches of sand such as Pantín, Doniños or Razo to city breaks like Orzán, right in the centre of A Coruña.
The key is that Galicia has three coasts: the north (Ferrol and A Coruña) works with southerly wind; the Costa da Morte and Carnota, which face west, with easterly wind; and the more sheltered Rías Baixas only wake up with big swells and northerly wind. With a car there is almost always an option. The water is the coldest on the Spanish coast (12–14 °C in winter and only just above 17 °C in summer): bring a 4/3 even in August and a 5/4 in winter.
