Laigueglia / Andora (Savona)
A right-hand point below the cape, one of the longest waves on the Riviera di Ponente.
Liguria and Tuscany have one of Italy's oldest surf scenes. The Ligurian Riviera faces south, with mountains plunging into the sea and reef and point waves that work with the libeccio and scirocco; the Tuscan coast, open to the west, has long sandy beaches in Versilia and rocky bottoms around Livorno.
The season runs from October to April and depends on western Mediterranean storms: watch the forecast and move fast, as the waves usually last a day or two. Water drops to 13 °C in winter: a 4/3 wetsuit, sometimes with booties.
